Freelance IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) Trainer

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Freelance IMDG Trainer to develop and deliver training programs focused on the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods by sea. The Freelance IMDG Trainer will be responsible for creating engaging training materials, conducting interactive training sessions, and providing support to participants seeking certification in IMDG regulations. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of IMDG regulations, packaging requirements, labeling, documentation, and emergency response procedures, as well as experience in adult education and training delivery. 

Must be Maritime Certified Professional and Experienced in the Maritime Industry / International Maritime Industry, Knowledge of Law and Regulations.

 

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  •          Develop comprehensive training curriculum covering IMDG regulations, classification of dangerous goods, packaging requirements, marking and labeling, documentation, and emergency response procedures.

  •          Create engaging training materials, including presentations, videos, case studies, quizzes, and practical exercises, to support learning objectives.

 

Training Delivery:

·        Facilitate interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars on IMDG regulations and procedures for individuals involved in the transportation of dangerous goods by sea, including shippers, freight forwarders, carriers, and port personnel.

·        Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and delivery methods, such as lectures, group discussions, tabletop exercises, role-plays, and scenario-based simulations, to enhance learning outcomes.

 

Certification Preparation:

  •        Prepare participants for IMDG certification exams by covering key concepts, regulations, and best practices outlined in the IMDG Code.

  •         Conduct practice tests, quizzes, and assessments to evaluate participants' readiness for certification and provide targeted feedback and guidance for improvement.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  •         Ensure that training programs comply with the latest IMDG regulations, amendments, guidelines, and industry-specific requirements.

  •         Stay updated on changes in IMDG regulations, hazardous materials classifications, packing instructions, and labeling requirements, and incorporate new information into training materials and delivery.

 

Hands-On Learning:

·        Provide hands-on training opportunities, such as packaging demonstrations, labeling exercises, and documentation reviews, to allow participants to apply IMDG principles in real-world scenarios.

·        Offer guidance, feedback, and troubleshooting support to help participants address challenges and improve their understanding and proficiency in IMDG compliance.

 

Assessment and Feedback:

  •         Assess participant learning outcomes through quizzes, assessments, practical exercises, and performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.

  •         Monitor participant progress and adjust training content and delivery as needed to ensure learning objectives are achieved.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  •        Stay abreast of the latest trends, developments, and amendments in IMDG regulations, packaging technologies, and hazardous materials transportation practices, incorporating new insights into training programs.

  •        Solicit feedback from participants and stakeholders to continuously improve training content, delivery methods, and overall effectiveness.

 

Requirements:

  •        Proven expertise in IMDG regulations, hazardous materials transportation, packaging, labeling, and documentation requirements.

  •         Strong background in adult education, instructional design, or training delivery, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  •         Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants in learning activities.

  •        Experience developing and delivering IMDG training programs in maritime, logistics, or transportation industries, preferably with a focus on certification preparation.

  •         Proficiency in creating training materials using multimedia tools, e-learning platforms, and interactive technologies.

  •        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt training content and delivery to meet the needs of different audiences and learning environments.

  •         Self-motivated and able to work independently, with excellent time management and organizational skills.

  •         Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules and deliver training sessions on-site or remotely as needed.

 

Education:

  •        Bachelor’s degree or higher in maritime studies, logistics, hazardous materials management, or a related field.

  •         Additional certifications or training in IMDG regulations, adult education, or training delivery is Mandatory.

 

Location:

  •         Inspire Management Training Centre, with occasional travel for on-site training sessions as required.

 

Note: This is a freelance position with flexible hours and project-based assignments. Compensation will be based on experience and scope of work.
